A Transportation Bill Should Focus On Transportation

Post by Freedom Partners

Arlington, VA — According to Politico, with only a few weeks remaining until transportation funding expires on July 31, some lawmakers are “pointing to the highway bill as a natural home for reviving the now-dead Export-Import Bank.”

Freedom Partners Senior Policy Advisor Andy Koenig issued the following statement:

“Washington shouldn’t play political games with roads and bridges. A transportation bill should focus on transportation, not revive a corrupt federal program that put hardworking taxpayers’ money at risk to benefit some of the world’s richest corporations. Adding Ex-Im would only make it more difficult to find a way forward on transportation because most Republicans oppose this blatant form of corporate welfare.”
