In Their Own Words: U.S. Senators on Tax Reform

Post by Freedom Partners

A November 2016 Reuters/Ipos national poll found that 72-percent of Americans feel that the “economy is rigged to advantage the rich and powerful.”

So how can lawmakers un-rig the economy so that it works for all Americans, and not just the wealthy, powerful and well-connected? Tax Reform.

The Senate has a once in a generation opportunity to use tax reform to “un-rig” the U.S. economy and help provide greater opportunity for all. Fortunately, this is a cause on which senators from across both sides of the aisle can agree.

The truth? Tax reform isn’t a Republican or Democrat issue.

Over the coming weeks, Freedom Partners will be highlighting remarks from key senators who have – in their own words – long-advocated for overhauling the U.S. Tax code to grow the economy, lower tax rates, close loopholes and special interest tax breaks, and encourage American businesses to compete globally.

Freedom Partners continues to urge policymakers to unify Americans around a plan for comprehensive tax reform, focusing on principles of a simplified, more efficient, equitable, and predictable tax code- without placing new burdens on taxpayers.
