HSA Expansion Provides Consumers Greater Flexibility at More Affordable Costs
Arlington, VA – Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce today applauded the U.S. House of Representatives for the passage of two bills expanding health savings accounts (HSAs): H.R. 6199, the Restoring Access to Medication and Modernizing Health Savings Accounts Act of 2018, and H.R. 6311, the Increasing Access to Lower Premium Plans and Expanding Health Savings Accounts Act of 2018. Both pieces of legislation lower barriers to HSAs, which promote consumer-driven health care, reduce taxes for families, and encourage lower health care spending.
Freedom Partners Executive Vice President Nathan Nascimento issued the following statement:
“Consumers trapped under the rising costs of health care are desperate for more affordable alternatives; the House today took an important step towards providing them just that. Expanding HSAs gives consumers greater control to spend their own money on their own health needs with a degree of flexibility not offered by traditional insurance plans. More than 25 million workers and families are currently taking advantage of the many benefits of HSAs, and we encourage the Senate to take up this legislation to lower barriers for more Americans to do the same.”
Earlier this month, Freedom Partners joined a coalition of more than two dozen free-market groups in a letter of support to the House Ways and Means Committee supporting the expansion of health savings accounts.
