Freedom Partners: New Tariffs Will Trigger More Economic Harm for U.S.

Post by Freedom Partners

Arlington, VA – Following the Trump administration’s announcement of new, additional tariffs of 10 percent on $200 billion in Chinese goods, Freedom Partners Executive Vice President Nathan Nascimento issued the following statement:

“This latest round of proposed tariffs is a giant leap backward for American companies, consumers, and working-class families. Each additional round of tariffs sullies the Trump administration’s strong pro-growth record and undermines the benefits of tax relief. Already, the harm from tariffs has emerged as soybean farmers struggle to find buyers, Maine lobsters are harder to sell, and a nail manufacturer reduces production.

“If enacted, nearly every import from one of our biggest trade partners will be more expensive. In addition, China has already said it will respond with new tariffs on American goods and services, making the problem worse. We again urge the administration to abandon tariffs and instead work with our trade partners to address any concerns with their trade practices.”
