Freedom Partners Praises EPA Decision to Ease Auto Regulations, Affordability

Post by Freedom Partners

Arlington, VA – In an ongoing effort to repeal harmful Obama-era rules and regulations, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) yesterday announced its adoption of more appropriate fuel economy standards which will produce more affordable cars for consumers. Praising the EPA’s determination, Freedom Partners Executive Vice President Nathan Nascimento issued the following statement:

“This decision is a victory for the American consumer and the overall economy. Rolling back egregious and ineffective regulations will rightly loosen the burden on and improve competitiveness for manufacturers, and will help to drive down costs for consumers – particularly those who can least afford high prices. We applaud the EPA’s decision, and remain encouraged by the Trump Administration’s commitment to eliminating barriers to growth and opportunity.”

Freedom Partners has long advocated for the repeal of as many excessive regulations as possible, issuing in February 2017 “A Roadmap to Repeal: Removing Regulatory Barriers to Opportunity,” which included calling for the repeal of greenhouse gas emissions and fuel efficiency standards. The report cites that the rule “has been ineffective in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and has resulted in thousands of dollars in per vehicle price increases.”
