Statement on DOL Withdraw from Obama Joint Employer Guidance

Post by Freedom Partners

Arlington, VA – Department of Labor (DOL) Secretary Alexander Acosta will withdraw the Obama administration’s informal guidance for independent contractors and joint employment, in effect rolling back the 2015 mandate making it tougher for U.S. businesses to grow and be competitive.

Freedom Partners Vice President of Policy Nathan Nascimento issued the following statement:

“President Obama’s job-killing union giveaway made subcontracting and franchising more expensive and less attractive – harming two primary engines of job and economic growth in the 21st century economy. This power-grab made it easier to target large employers, squeeze smaller ones, and made it tougher for all businesses to grow and succeed. Scrapping this harmful rule is good for both employers and job seekers alike.”
