VIDEO | Freedom Partners Launches New Campaign: Who’s Jeopardizing Tax Reform?

Post by Freedom Partners

Arlington, VA – Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce today is launching a new campaign highlighting businesses, lobbyists and politicians that threaten tax reform by trying to protect the rigged system that favors special interests.

The ad will run in Washington, DC on cable and broadcast television, while the site NoMoreCorporateWelfare.com will spotlight efforts to promote and protect corporate welfare in the U.S. tax code.

Approximately 4,000 Washington, DC lobbyists work on behalf of special interests to protect tax carve outs and giveaways that are estimated to exceed $1.5 trillion this year. As Congress moves ahead with historic tax reform, numerous media outlets are predicting a “lobbying frenzy” by entrenched interests to retain special treatment – putting the possibility of comprehensive reform at risk.

Freedom Partners Executive Vice President James Davis issued the following statement:

“The unified vision of the Trump administration and Congressional leaders provides a once-in-a- generation opportunity to unrig the tax code of corporate welfare and create a simpler, fairer tax system with lower rates for everyone. We want to make it clear that we aren’t going to sit idly by and let crony politicians, businesses and lobbyists jeopardize it. Americans deserve a tax code that puts their interests ahead of special interests, and shining a light on this process is the best way to ensure they get one.”

Freedom Partners opposes all forms of corporate welfare that benefit the politically connected few at the expense of everyone else. The tax reform framework released last month represents a “giant step” toward delivering a simpler, fairer and flatter tax code that will help unrig the system and benefit all Americans with a stronger economy, higher wages, and more financial security.
