White House Action to Cut Wasteful Spending at Federal Agencies Should be Applauded

Post by Freedom Partners

Arlington, VA – After signing an executive order in March to begin holding federal agencies accountable and develop plans to “improve their efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability,” the White House is issuing specific instructions to agencies to “maximize employee performance” and accountability and eliminate duplicative, non-essential, or unnecessary programs.

The instructions are made in a 14-page memorandum to agency heads from White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Mick Mulvaney.

Freedom Partners Vice President of Policy Nathan Nascimento issued the following statement:

“For years, Washington’s administrative overreach has hurt our economy and taxpayers, and led to a bloated bureaucracy replete with waste and redundancies. Americans who voted for an end to business as usual should applaud President Trump and Director Mulvaney for their plan to protect taxpayers and make government more efficient, effective, and accountable. We look forward to working with the administration and lawmakers on Capitol Hill to advance these critical reforms to ensure they become reality.”
